Futsal San José - Coaches

Local Rules

Futsal San Jose plays according to the FIFA LOTG 2005, with some local exceptions.

Cancellation of games

Games must be canceled at least 48 hours in advance by contacting our referee scheduler Rick Domenici either by email <cheetahrick@comcast.net> or by phone (408) 723-5496. We will try to reschedule canceled games if possible, but we cannot guarantee that we will find a spot in our schedule.

If you have scheduling constraints please send an email to <info@futsalsj.org> and if the schedule for that day has not been published yet we will try to work around those constraints (but again, no guarantees).

High School Players

Information for high school soccer players:
Futsal San Jose has confirmed with the commissioner of the Blossom Valley Athletic League (BVAL) that futsal is not recognized as soccer by the California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) or the BVAL. Therefore, high school soccer players may participating in futsal during the high school soccer season (in other words, there's no conflict with CIF Rule 600). However, players should check with their coaches to see if they have any restrictions on players participating in outside sports during the season.

Equipment required for games

When you show up with your team for a game, please make sure to have the following equipment ready:
  • All players must have
    • Tennis or Futsal shoes,
    • Shorts (except for Goalie which can use long pants)
    • Shin guards,
    • Team Uniform (shirts with numbers, shorts, socks),
    • Player pass
  • Coach pass
  • Goalie Shirt (different from uniform)
  • Medical consent form from parents. If you do not already have one let the parents fill out the Youth Registration Form.

Balls

Outdoor soccer balls are not appropriate for indoor use, the bounce too much, can be kicked to easily and break stuff. We do not allow any team to use outdoor soccer balls in the gyms for either warm-up, practices or games (we provide game balls).

We use balls size #3 for U8 and U10 age groups, and size #4 for older age groups.

The cheapest balls (about $10) currently available are here: Size #3 Futsal Ball and Size #4 Futsal Ball. You can find many other places to buy balls for about $25 in general, all the way up to $75 balls.
